African American Museum in philadelphia (aamp)

The African American Museum in Philadelphia was founded in 1976 in celebration of the nation’s Bicentennial. AAMP is the first institution funded and built by a major municipality to preserve, interpret, and exhibit the heritage of African Americans. Throughout its evolution the museum has interpreted and presented the achievements and aspirations of African Americans from pre-colonial times to the current day. The ROZ Group has provided ongoing services to the museum since 2006 including strategic marketing and communications and exhibit development. Our team served as the Owner’s Representative and Project Manager for a permanent core exhibit, Audacious Freedom: The History of African Americans in Philadelphia 1776 to 1876. This exhibit transformed the exhibit into a dynamic, contemporary institution with this highly acclaimed interactive, hands-on history experience. In this capacity, we managed the RFQ/RFP processes which resulted in Eisterhold and Associates (Kansas City, MO) being selected as the exhibit design firm. We facilitated think tanks and brainstorming sessions with stakeholders and history experts to name the exhibit and to make critical decisions about content. We represented the interest of the museum to its corporate sponsors and partners.
